The Latest Spanish Property News from Kyero.com
November 11th, 2008
This week, I've selected a handful of news stories, each with something positive to say about the Spanish property market. It's not that the credit crisis and property overhang have been magically resolved - it's just that there's no new news on those subjects.
My favourite article is 20 Ways to Buy and Sell in Spain because it offers pragmatic, real-world advice to both buyers and sellers. Originally written with the UK market in mind, each point is just as applicable and useful in Spain - perhaps even more so.
Ryanair seems to be doing its bit for the Spanish property market by announcing new flights from the UK to Malaga and the Canaries. This is especially good news considering that other foreign property destinations are experiencing a reduction in flights.
Finally, the article about independent certification for developments is very welcome. Although still in its early stages, I applaud any effort to drag the property buying process in Spain into the 21st century.
If you happen to find yourself on the Costa Tropical next week, make sure you don't miss the Andrés Segovia Classical Guitar Competition. Never heard of him? - this video tells you everything you need to know about the world famous Spanish guitarist.
Although Segovia died over 20 years ago, one week, once a year, in the sleepy seaside village of La Herradura (where virtually nothing happens for the other 51 weeks), budding musicians from all over the world descend to compete for the title of best international classical guitarist.
Due to a spectacular lack of administrative ability and a similar deficit of commercial flair on the part of the local town council, almost nobody has ever heard of this event. You can't even buy tickets - it's free to soak up the entire week of the world's best classical guitar players performing their own original pieces.
But now you know - just show up at the civic centre in La Herradura between the 17th and 22nd of November. If you need another reason to visit this part of the Granada coast, I had the best-ever grilled fish for lunch at the weekend, sitting on La Herradura beach, sun cream still mandatory.
Maybe I'll see you in La Herradura next week? Fly to Malaga or Granada airports, La Herradura is an hour's drive from either of them. Find holiday rental accommodation in La Herradura or neighbouring Almuñecar, or see some photos of La Herradura.
