October 28th, 2008

There are a couple of articles this week of particular interest, plus more observations on the problems caused by under-declaring the value of property transactions. This week marks the 200th issue of the Property Pulse Newsletter. I'm not quite sure whether it's much of an anniversary of note, or how to celebrate it but I feel sure there will be a bottle of cava involved somewhere along the way. I won't surprise you to learn ...

I'm as guilty as anyone of seeing the Spanish property market solely through the perspective of press articles. Unfortunately, most of the bad news seems to be factual and backed-up by reliable data, and most of the good news is, more often than not, just promotional fluff. However, this morning, ...

In terms of total transactions, or ‘merchanting’ as ...

Hats off to the developers and promotors in Catalunya for coming up with real-world solutions for the current property market. Reducing off-plan prices by 40% seems like a sensible move to me. I do hope the G14 developers and promotors are sitting-up and taking notes. Although the ACd'EI web site is ...

She quite rightly pointed out that, by combining sales figures for new-build properties and resales, I had (unintentionally) distorted the actual growth rates for each province. This is because a new-build property essentially ...

50% of Spain’s capital investment is in property, which is also responsible for half of all new jobs and a significant contributor to Spanish GDP. The continued inflation of house prices has put a home in Spain beyond the reach of many foreign and national buyers just when more ...
